Yes, yes its cheaper to buy a used tire. It is less then half the price of a new one.

However, The reality is that most likely the tire you are buying is not from the same brand and whoever is installing it in for you is most like in a hurry to get the next customer in quickly because the profit is not that great unless they get lots of customers. Since its a low paying job, it will probably never be done by a professional and believe me, I’m not saying this because I’m affiliated with any new tire company or used tire company or anything, its just the truth.

The reality is that I have driven a taxi for many years and I know what I’m, talking about. Believe me it can be understandable if you are totally low on money and buying a used tire is a way of keep you going.

But, take advice from someone like me who has been there and done that a few times. As soon as possible you must buy a new tire especially for the front of your vehicle because the company will rotate it before installing for you, the tires will be the same brand and hopefully you will have money to pay a little more to align the car.

Most likely the used tire you install won’t last longer at all unless you are very lucky, and I will give you some examples of what is against you as a buyer, but again please, buy all means, if you are basically broke just go for it and buy a used one. Just keep this on your mind: the used tires are most likely never the same brand, they are installed in a hurry and probably not even rotated, they have been on all kind of outside weather and get flat more easily, plus won’t last longer at all, I could go on, but you get the picture).

Dear reader: if you have a choice stay way from the illusion of savings and don’t fool yourself because very often we forgot about our loved ones that will be in the car. A well aligned set of tires is crucial for they safety but also for the safety of others.

Again as an example, I had an accident one time, it was raining and for the same reasons (I was very low on money) I had an unbalanced used tire, luckily, I was alone but the damage on the taxi exceeded 3000 dollars. So by all means if possible stay away from a used tire and the illusion of savings.
